Lawn Cottage, Godney - cosy and unpretentious self-catering accommodation on the Somerset Levels with views to Glastonbury Tor.
With two pretty bedrooms the cottage sleeps 2 -3 people and is perfect for couples visiting Somerset on romantic weekends, as well as small families, single parent families, or friends holidaying together.
Lawn Cottage (which has no lawn!) sits on a lane on the edge of the small village of Godney, with quick access to the thriving centres of Glastonbury and Wells. All Somerset’s major visitor highlights are within easy reach, yet you can look forward to returning to the quieter rural atmosphere and dramatic open countryside at the end of the day.
Originally a Victorian farm hayloft at the foot of the Vicarage lawns, the building was more recently converted into two dwellings retaining wealth of traditional features:- old doors, a brick fireplace, exposed beams and flagstone flooring in the kitchen and conservatory.
Modest but comfortable, the cottage welcomes cyclists, bird-watchers, walkers and well behaved dogs, as well as anyone wishing to partake of the whole Glastonbury experience, while staying out of town.
"…splash down into the Levels proper… a precarious landscape of billowing water meadows and scowling cows. The roads are like catwalks here, lit on both sides by those glinting rhynes, straight as ley lines and luminous with algae. In the pretty hamlet of Godney, life is one long gurgle…"
